OFO clean-up and birding Calliope Crossing 9-29-07
Calliope Crossing is one of the Oregon Birding Trails sites sponsored by Oregon Field Ornithologists. It is site number 77 on the Three Sisters Loop of the Cascades Trail. See the link below for details on how to get there and more about the area. This is a popular birding location just off Hwy 20 near Sisters, Deschutes county. http://www.oregonbirdingtrails.org/three_sisters.pdf
OFO invites everyone to join us on Saturday, September 29 at 7:30 a.m. We will do a general clean-up and be able to do some birding while we work. OFO will have bags for collecting the trash. Please bring your own work gloves. The area gets some heavy impact from birders as well as general recreation pressure. Last year we finished in less than 2 hours.
If you want to make a day of it while you are in the area, the East Cascades Bird Conservancy has the Fall Raptor Migration Survey going on that weekend 10a.m. to 4 p.m up at Green Ridge. Contact Karen Sharples, coordinator, if you want to participate or have questions. ksharples@comcast.net
Hope to see you at the clean-up. OFO thanks you in advance for helping to keep this premier birding location looking great! Judy Meredith jmeredit@bendnet.com
